Position Overview
Lead clinical and administrative anesthesia operations as Chief Anesthesiologist at the New Mexico VA Health Care System's Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. This leadership position includes academic responsibilities with affiliation to the University of New Mexico, supervising residents, medical students, and SRNAs in a collaborative team environment allowing some CRNA independent practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all anesthesia services, including OR and non-OR locations, preoperative optimization, intraoperative care, postoperative management, surgical ICU, and pain management.
- Coordinate with physicians, CRNAs, and interdisciplinary teams for high-quality Veteran care.
- Deliver anesthesia for cardiac, vascular, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, and expanding non-OR procedures.
- Participate in rotating evening, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage.
- Serve as administrator, educator, and consultant with potential faculty appointment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) from accredited institution.
- Board certification implied for leadership role.
- U.S. Citizenship preferred; unrestricted license.
- Proficiency in English; pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Compensation & Benefits
- $400,000 annual salary.
- Recruitment/relocation incentive possible (service agreement required).
- 50-55 days paid time off (26 annual leave, 13 sick, 11 federal holidays, possible 5 days CME).
